Hi! I’m Jerri

Join me as I explore--wandering in new places and wondering at the magic in books, art, and everyday living. I am a six-year Florida resident and love walking at the beach. I’m an aspiring writer and photographer. Many of the photos on these blogs are mine. I’m a mom of two remarkable women. I grew up in a rural area of Arkansas and now live in a city of a million people only three miles from the Atlantic Ocean.

I’m a retired education policy fanatic focused on starting community schools and innovative early-learning programs. I led the education research staff for the Arkansas Legislature for many years and subsequently worked in education policy for two non-profits. I have also done consulting work. I am a confident person who is happiest when learning new things.

Fortunately, there is more to do, more places to see, books to read, and ideas to explore.  When I visit a national park or a busy plaza in Rome, I pause to reflect and absorb the context of the new place. Books and art challenge my thinking and help me to consider bold ideas.

Why am I starting a blog? I like talking with friends about travel, books and art. Writing takes that conversation one step further. It forces me to organize and hone my thoughts. It encourages me to consider new information and pushes me to widen my world. Blogging is a way for me to learn, and I hope to hear feedback from my readers. I plan to assess my experiences with positivity and optimism. I hope you enjoy my perspective on these topics. Thank you for reading.

Jerri
